Who is career advising intended for?
Since career development is a lifelong process, career advising can be appropriate for anyone, including freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, as well as graduate students and alumni.
These are some concerns/questions that might students bring to ACDO:
“I have no idea what I want to do with my life.”
“I’ve narrowed it down to a couple career options, but I’m having a hard time choosing between them.”
“I know what I want to major in, but I have no idea what I want to do once I graduate.”
“I want to know what kinds of jobs I can get with my major.”
“I need assistance in finding internships.”
“What’s the best job search strategy for me?”
“How does my resume look?”
“How can I show I have experience if I don’t have direct experience?”
“How do I look on social media?”
“What resources are available to me?”
How can we be helpful in your job and internship search?
Career services provide a full range of professional development opportunities to students from freshman to graduate.
Some of the services include: access to job/internship postings, networking events, info sessions, internship assistance, resume review, mock interviews and workshops.
Your job search/career attainment process is also a critical aspect of your career development, so the job search and career advising are intertwined.
A career fair is an excellent way to research companies, meet recruiters, find an internship or job, and explore additional professional opportunities.
During job orientation days the employers often visit campus to speak with groups of students. Whether you’re just starting to think about your career path or are deep into an internship or job search, these information sessions are a great way to learn about organizations and opportunities.
We recommend that all students come to the ACDO and get consultancy!
