Dinner with 6 strangers is a new tradition at AUA.
The goal of the dinner is to provide an opportunity for alumni to engage with current students.
The idea is simple: attend a dinner with students and alumni to share a good meal, good conversation, and a good time. The AUA alumni will host dinners at their homes or at a local restaurant. All the costs will be covered by our generous alumni.
The program provides an opportunity for a great evening of socializing and networking.
It’s more than just a meal…
The phrase “Dinner with Six Strangers” may sound unusual, but the program aims to build and strengthen the AUA community. It connects current students with alumni and adds a personal touch to their AUA experience. Apart from good food and conversation, the program offers students the opportunity to network with AUA alumni, find out about life after college. In addition, it gives an opportunity for alumni to provide mentorship to current students.
How do I participate as a host?
The program format is simple. Local alumni host dinners, paying for all costs, for about 6 students. If you don’t have room for 6, feel free to host a smaller dinner. These gatherings can be as formal or as casual as the host desires, and can take place in the host’s home, outdoors, or at a restaurant. As the host, you get to decide on all the details.
What happens at the dinner?
Hosts are asked to open the discussion by having every student introduce themselves. You can try playing some ice breakers to help ease the introduction process. As dinner is served, the host can talk about various topics ranging from life at AUA when they were a student to sharing tips for successful job searching.
What kind of support will alumni receive from the AUA Office of Alumni Relations Office as a host?
Alumni need only to sponsor a dinner (paying for all the costs), select a location, decide upon the number of guests, plan the menu, and enjoy the evening. The AUA Office of Alumni Relations will take care of the logistics—sending out the invitations to students, notifying students of the time and location of their dinner, and facilitating the process.
If you are interested in hosting a dinner for current students, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations and Career Development at alumnirelations@aua.am. We very much appreciate your generosity to cover all of the costs and host a meal with current AUA students. Thank you.
