Film Screening

The Office of Alumni Relations invites you to the debut screening of the short art film “Still in those deserts” (“Դեռ այն անապատներում”) written and directed by an AUA alumna, Elina Yerkanyan (BAEC ’24).
Initially a part of her creative Capstone project, centered on the topics of Armenian Genocide transgenerational trauma and collective memory, the film, which is currently in its festival run, developed into a stand-alone art project aiming to conceptually portray the emotions experienced by the descendants of the Armenian Genocide survivors and draw parallels between the Medz Yeghern and the ethnic cleansing of Armenians during the 2020 Artsakh war.
Through the prism of a single character and her family archives, “Still in those deserts” touches upon the themes of collective genocide trauma, Armenian national identity, heritage and culture using different art mediums as tools of visual communication.
The event will start with the film’s screening, followed by a Q&A session and a wine catering, during which you are welcome to network and ask questions to Elina and her team.
The event is open to the public with limited capacity. We kindly ask you to register beforehand.
