Armenian Genocide: What to Research and Why It Matters

April 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

More than a century after the Armenian Genocide, critical questions around research, interpretation, and relevance remain as urgent as ever.

This panel brings together distinguished scholars from the American University of Armenia who are actively shaping the field through both research and teaching. The discussion will explore what it means to study the Armenian Genocide today, addressing what questions still demand attention, why this work continues to matter 111 years later, and how it is situated within the broader field of genocide studies.

Panelists will offer insights into the evolving directions of scholarship and its role in preserving memory, advancing knowledge, and informing global conversations on mass violence and justice.

Panelists:

Dr. Stephan Astourian, Director, Turpanjian Institute of Social Sciences
Dr. Suren Manukyan, Adjunct Lecturer
Dr. Edita Gzoyan, Adjunct Lecturer

Moderator:

Varuzhan Geghamyan, Adjunct Lecturer

The panel discussion will include networking before and after the discussion, with wine and light refreshments. Join us on April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Akian Art Gallery, PAB 4th floor.
