AUA Alumni Open House Night
September 4, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the Office of Alumni Relations for the launch of AUA Alumni Open House Nights – a new quarterly series bringing alumni together for meaningful connection, campus updates, and inspiring conversations with the AUA community.
Whether you’ve stayed close or it’s been years since your last visit, this is your chance to return to campus, hear what’s new, and reconnect with the people and ideas shaping AUA and the wider community today.
During this first Open House Night, we will be hearing two short and exciting presentations from William Frazer Endowed Professor Dr. Narine Srvazyan and Junior Researcher Gevorg Nersesian.
Dr. Srvazyan will share her work creating the first digital 3D library of ancient Armenian gravestones, or tapanakars. Using photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning, Dr. Srvazyan and the 3DArmenia Initiative team have created high-resolution, fully rotatable 3D digital twins of over 300 tapanakars and khachkars.
Gevorg Nersesian will present his joint project with principal investigator Dr. Suren Khachatryan on developing computer vision tools to detect, segment, and recognize Armenian stone inscriptions that have survived for centuries but are often weathered, eroded, and hard to read automatically. The goal of their project is not only to preserve cultural heritage but also to make it searchable and accessible to researchers and the public worldwide.
